myNoise with a focus timer: an alternative for work blocks
myNoise is a huge free library of tuneable noise generators. What to use when you want fewer choices and a focus timer in the same tab, and why myNoise may still be all you need.

myNoise is one of the best things on the internet for people who work to sound. It is free and ad-free, funded by donations, and has a very large library of generators you can tune slider by slider. If you have found it, you may not need anything else. This page is for the people who want something narrower: fewer decisions, and a timer that ends the block.
What myNoise does well
Depth and control. Each generator splits the sound into bands you can adjust, so you can take the hiss out of rain or the rumble out of a train. It costs nothing, and a donation gets you extra features. If you enjoy tuning sound, nothing else comes close.
Fewer choices, a timer included
Kiri goes the other way. Ten sounds, already mixed: rain, brown, pink and white noise, a forest, a café, a fireplace, the sea, wind and a waterfall, the nature and café ones blended from long real field recordings. You pick one, write the task, and press Space. The timer runs 25, 50 or 90-minute blocks with breaks, shows the countdown in the tab title and keeps a log of what you did.
The timer, rain, brown noise and alpha beats are free. The other sounds are €39 once. It runs only on a laptop or desktop.
When myNoise is the better choice
- You want control. Kiri has a volume slider per sound, not per frequency band.
- You want variety. myNoise has far more sounds.
- You want it free. myNoise is; Kiri's full set is a one-time payment.
Or use both
Nothing stops you running myNoise in one tab and a Kiri timer with the sound off in another. If you are choosing a colour of noise, start with brown, white or pink noise.
